Edmonton Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan

My fourth nagar kirtan in 2014! I saw one in 2011 (Calgary), two in 2012 (Phoenix and Calgary), three in 2013 (Vancouver, Surrey, Queensborough). And one in India in 2006.

This nagar kirtan was a lot more serious and spiritual than the other three this year. There was no procession of police cars and bikers at the front and pilgrims were encouraged to walk only behind Guru Granth Sahib Ji

It was very enjoyable

R.I.P. Harvey Passage

Harvey Passage was destroyed in the great Calgary flood of 2013.

The river tore a new route through the southern side of the class II rapids "play area" that was so enjoyable to many kayakers in 2012. It was only open for one full season.

Now this entire part of the river is closed while the city rebuilds. Unfortunately some deemed the 2012 construction as "too challenging" (it was not!) and they are redesigning it to make it more accessible to more river users.

Spring time in Calgary

I arrived in Calgary at the beginning of May, in time for a typical last snow of the year. But it was colder and lasted longer than in 2012.
