Writing on Stone Provincial Park


I expected to see petroglyphs but what I got was some amazing scenery in the Milk River valley

Writing on Stone is also a National Historic Site and is on Canada's tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage status

The buildings below are a recreated North-West Mounted Police post, and the canyon they are in front of is Police Coulee, it runs all the way into Montana and was a big smuggling and horse raiding route until the post was establish in the 1880's
